Summary:
Falon Land Studio is hiring two intern positions in Houston, Texas to work with our diverse team. Our work is a hybrid of landscape architecture at a variety of scales and public art commissions for municipalities and non-profits. We are looking for ambitious emerging designers with an interest in crafting construction drawing sets for permanent public art commissions, landscapes, and urban plazas. Ideal candidate Qualifications:
Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a Landscape Architecture degree program
Proficiency in AutoCAD and Adobe Creative Suite (Rhino proficiency a huge plus!)
Ability to sketch ideas by hand
Commitment to design excellence
Exceptional craft in model making and material studies
Willingness to learn, grow, and innovate on projects in collaboration with designers, consultants, builders, and clients
Background or familiarity with traditional / fine art / studio art-making practices helpful but not required. Background or familiarity with creative coding, grasshopper, Arduino, and digital fabrication helpful but not required.
Desire to learn in a studio based environment with a non-traditional firm
Essential Functions:
Provide design and construction documentation support for landscape architecture and public art projects
Create full project documentation and design drawings from concept to construction detail. This includes presentation renderings for projects in conceptual phase through construction drawings and permit submittals.
Ability to participate in site visits and client meetings on a per project basis
Ability to work fluidly across landscape, urbanism, environmental art, installation art, civic art, and ecology projects
